Hard reset via Settings
- From the Lcd of your phone, press the Menu button
- Tap Settings.
- Scroll down and tap Privacy
- Tap Factory Data Reset
- Check Erase internal storage if you would like to erase all the data on the phone internal storage such as applications, music, movies or photos.
- Tap Reset Phone
- Tap Erase Everything
Hard reset via hardware / external keys
- Power off the phone, press and hold volume down button, press power button
- Screen will come up with “Fastboot”, press Vol down key to cycle through choices until you get “Android Recovery”, then press Vol up key
- Wait for the “triangle ! / Android” Lcd then go on to step 4
- Press both Vol up and Vol down key simultaneously. A menu will come up
- Tap on Vol down key until “wipe data/factory reset” is highlighted, and tap Power key. Another Confirmation Lcd will come. Tap on Vol down key until coming to Yes and tap Power key
- After userdata is cleared, the “reboot system now” option will be highlighted by Default. Tap Power key
- Phone will reboot to initial setup Lcd.
Warning! All data will be erased from device memory, including system and application data, settings and downloaded applications. Back up your important data. The device will restore to factory settings.

How to Backup and Factory Reset (Hard Reset)
Resetting your Motorola Moto G will restore the default settings of your device. It will also delete all your files on your phone, so it is recommended to have a backup of your important files on your computer. There are two ways on how to reset your Motorola Moto G. It can be done through the settings or through the hardware buttons.
Backup & restore
Your Google account data is backed up online. If you reset or replace your phone, just log in to your Google account to restore the contacts, events, and other details you synced with the account. To choose what syncs with the account, touch Apps > Settings > Google, touch your Google account, and check things to sync. Please note that text messages, call logs, and items stored on your phone will not be restored. To restore your Google Play™ Store apps, see “Take care of your apps”.

Warning: All downloaded apps and user data on your phone will be deleted. Data on the cloud will not be deleted.

Transferring contacts and files on Motorola Moto G is now made easier by using the free app Motorola Migrate. You can easily transfer all your photos, music, text, contact and even your call history. You just need to download the app on the link.
How to take a screenshot
Share a screen capture of your favorite playlist, your new high score, or a friend’s contact information. If you can show it on your phone, you can share it with your friends.
To capture your phone’s screen, press and hold both the Power and the Volume Down keys at the same time.
To see the screen capture, touch Apps > Gallery > Screenshots.

Moto G has an internal storage capacity of 8GB or 16GB, and MicroSD card slot is not available on this device. How to Hard Reset
These steps is also helpful when your Motorola Moto G is unresponsive or frozen and theres no way to access the settings. If it is frozen, remove the battery and reinsert it after a few minutes.
- Power up the device pressing both Volume UP and Down keys at the same time. Use the Volume down key to highlight recovery mode and volume up to select it.
- When in recovery mode, you will see an android with a red triangle. Press Volume up and Volume down at the same time. This will bring up a blue menu at the top of the screen.
- Press Volume down to select "wipe data/factory reset" and press the Power key to select it.
- Now press Volume down to highlight Yes and press power to select it.
- Finally, when the device finishes it will have "reboot system now" selected. Just press power to select that option.

- Minimize recording or watching videos, listening to music, or taking pictures.
How to Customize Homescreen
For quick access to your favorite things, customize your home screen the way you want.
• Change wallpaper: Touch and hold an empty spot on your home screen to choose your wallpaper.
• Create shortcut groups: You can group app shortcuts together on your home screen to organize them.
To create a shortcut group on your home screen, drag one shortcut onto another. Add more shortcuts by dragging them onto the first shortcut. To name the group, touch it and enter a name below the apps.
• Add shortcuts & widgets: Touch Apps, touch and hold the app or widget, then drag it to one of your home screen pages. To see all your apps and widgets, touch Apps and swipe the menu screen to the left, or touch APPS or WIDGETS at the top.
Tip: Some apps include widgets. To download apps, touch Apps > Play Store.
• Resize widgets: You can resize some widgets—touch and hold a widget until you feel a vibration, then release. Drag the white circles at the edges to resize.
• Move or delete widgets & shortcuts: Touch and hold a widget or shortcut until you feel a vibration, then drag it to another spot, another page, or Remove at the top of the screen.
